Fluctuating COVID-19 levels mean tough times for lots of families – but we’ve got a way you can help others, at the same time as helping clear your overdue fees.
From 1 October to 4 December you can get $3 off your library overdue fees by dropping off an item for our local food banks. Simply drop your non-perishable donation (e.g. canned food, toiletries, pasta/rice/other dried goods, biscuits, crackers etc) to the Matamata, Morrinsville or Te Aroha Library, and we’ll wipe $3 off your overdues. Owe more than $3? No worries! For every item of food you bring in we will happily waive a further $3 in overdue fees.
Not in a position to buy things for others at the moment? All good – you can still be involved by helping someone else find a great book. Simply send us an original book review during the amnesty to get $3 off your overdue fees. You can drop your review in to the library, or email it to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. We’ll use some of the reviews on our website or catalogue to help others find great books. Your review needs to be for an item that the library holds, and should include a rating out of 5, and some comments on the book (no specific length is required). You’ll get $3 off per review.
We know that having a history of library fees or having bad experiences in the past can stop people from coming back to our libraries. We hope that this fees amnesty will help out families who are struggling in the district, at the same time as welcoming back those who haven’t visited our libraries in some time.
