Memberships
Libraries are funded largely by rates. Membership is therefore free to residents/ratepayers of Matamata-Piako district and entitles you to use Matamata, Morrinsville and Te Aroha libraries, plus our online collections.
Non-residents/non-ratepayers are welcome to join on a subscription membership of $62/year.*
Digital Membership is for residents who wish to access computers or digital materials only.
We also have special membership types for organisations, housebound and people with print disabilities. Please contact us for more information.
Guest passes are available for non-residents using public computers.

How to join
Complete a registration form, agree to terms of membership, and provide the following:
- Photo identification (e.g. Passport, NZ Drivers License)
- Proof of your current residential address (e.g. rates notice, power bill, postmarked letter with your name and address)
- If you are under 18 years of age, a parent or guardian will need to come in with you to take responsibility for your library account. Note: This is not required if you are between 16 – 18 and married or living independently of your guardians.
Digital Only Memberships
Digital Only memberships are available to members of our district who wish to access computers and digital materials only i.e., e-books and other online resources.
- for Matamata-Piako residents only – please supply a valid Matamata-Piako home address
- photo ID and proof of address not required
- to upgrade to a full membership (to borrow books, magazines, DVDs) please supply ID and proof of address and we will convert your membership.
