Our Winter Matariki Reading challenge and school holiday activities will kick off with a sleepover for your teddy bears/cuddlies.
Come along to your local library (Matamata, Morrinsville or Te Aroha) on Friday 30 June at 5pm.
Register on our school holiday page: Holiday programmes in July
What's the plan?
Families will come along to the library around 5pm and be given a set of sheets and pegs/clips to construct a family reading fort somewhere in the library. Our staff will provide guidance on how to construct them safely (so shelves of books don't fall on you!). We'll give you a special tag to put on your teddy/cuddly so they don't get lost or mixed up when they stay for their sleepover. Families will be able to read by torchlight in their forts until it's time to go home. You'll leave your special cuddly/teddy in your fort for their sleepover and head home around 6.30pm. Come back to the library on Saturday 1 July (we open from 9am-1.30pm) to collect your cuddly and hear about their adventures. You'll also get your Matariki winter reading challenge booklet to start your holiday reading.
What do you need to bring?
Anyone in your family who wants to come.
Your teddy bear, cuddly, plushie (they'll need to be happy to sleep overnight in the library)
A torch if you have one
Comfy clothes, and a pillow if you want to.
