Winter Reading Challenge 2026

Briefly ignore the fact that the world is on fire and distract yourself by picking up a book during the Winter Reading Challenge!

This challenge runs from Monday 15 June to Monday 31 August with the aim of reading books that can give you that little bit of escapism we're all looking for right now. Each week, there will be a new challenge, like reading a picture book because, honestly, that's where we're at, or revisiting a book from your childhood because things were simpler back when you still had dreams of homeownership.

There will be gold stars to collect for each challenge completed (literally). At the end of the challenge, the randomly drawn winners will get a trophy and a Prezzy card (which let's be real, you'll probably have to spend on groceries, or luxuries like petrol).

Week 2 Challenge: Read a BookTok book and see what the fuss is about (chat with your librarian for a recommendation!)

How does the challenge work?
  1. Sign up using the form below
  2. Collect your sticker chart from your local library
  3. Check Facebook, the posters in your library, and this webpage to see what the challenge of the week is
  4. Complete the weekly challenge OR read any book of your choice
  5. Pop into the library to collect your gold star once you have complete the weekly challenge OR once you have finished reading a book of your choice. These will be available at the front desk
  6. At the end of the challenge, hand in your sticker chart. You will receive one prize draw entry for every gold star you collected. Three Prezzy card winners will be drawn randomly from each library. There will also be trophies for those who have collected the highest number of gold stars

Sign up below to join the Winter Reading Challenge. Your sticker charts will be ready to pick up from Monday 15 June.
