Come to the Libraries in July for OLYMPIC amounts of fun. Yes, you heard us right, our holiday programme is a mini version of the Paris Olympics in Matamata-Piako District Libraries style. Aimed at children aged 5-13 years, we'll be doing a series of four events. Check them out and sign up here.
Opening Ceremony: Monday 8 July 10.30 - 11.30am
Join us for the start of the Olympics with our opening ceremony. We will be making flags for the countries we represent, rhythmic gymnastic wands and playing balloon volleyball.
Field Sports: Wednesday 10 July 10.30 - 11.30am
Next up will be our field sports activity. For this event, we'll be making paper javelins and competing at an archery event using paper arrows.
New Sports: Monday 15 July 10.30 - 11.30am
Our third event celebrates the new sports that have been introduced to the Olympics. This session is all about skateboarding (we'll be making a skateboard course for a finger deck) and creating a climbing person.
Closing Ceremony: Wednesday 17 July 10.30 - 11.30am
We'll finish up with our closing ceremony. We'll be making paper torches, laurel wreaths and medals.
