Contactless book services

Books to You | Pukapuka ki a koe

Are you stuck at home and can’t make it to the library?  Are you on temporary bed rest and wish you had something to keep you occupied?  We can help with that!

If you can’t get into the library because of mobility challenges or illness, your local library can come to you.

Our free Books To You | Pukapuka ki a koe service lets you borrow real books, magazines, DVDS, talking books and large print, without having to step outside your door.

You can arrange for a friend or neighbour to pick up and collect your books for you, or we can appoint a trusted volunteer.

Who is it for?

Residents of the Matamata-Piako District can access this home delivery service.  You don't need to have a medical certificate or referral to qualify for Books to You | Pukapuka ki a koe, our Team Leaders will discuss with you what your circumstances are and if you qualify.  The service is designed for people who are unable to visit the library due to permanent and/or temporary: illness, disability, mobility issues.

What does it cost?

There is no charge for this service, as it is a means to ensure the library collections are available to everyone in our district.  If you choose to borrow from our rental collections (Hot Picks, DVDs, Talking books), then regular charges apply.  You may be liable for any lost or damaged items.

How do I join?

To get set up, phone 07 889 8388 to talk to one of our team.

They will put you in touch with one of our team leaders, who will chat with you to find out what you are interested in and what books you have enjoyed in the past.  This will help us choose books and magazines to suit you.

Not a library member yet?  No problem.  We can organise to sign you up.
