Borrow, return or renew items

To see what you have on your account or renew an item, login to your account or use the Matamata Piako Libraries app.

 

Borrowing items


  • The maximum number of items you can borrow at once is 50 items.
  • Borrowing periods vary from 2 week to 4 weeks, with most being 4 weeks.
  • Maximum borrowing time is 8 weeks, as some items can be renewed once. See Renew an Item below.
  • The date due is printed on the kiosk receipt or email. It is also given in the app or in My Account.
  • If we have your email address, you will receive a courtesy email reminder three days before items are due back.

Returning items


Return items at any of our three libraries

  • at our kiosks during opening hours. 
  • or in our after-hours slot when the libraries are closed. 

If you use e-books, please note that these return themselves automatically at the end of the two weeks.

 

Renewing items


You can renew a book as long as no one has placed a hold on it, and you have not already renewed it once before. After one renewal a book must be returned to the shelves so that other members of the community have the opportunity to borrow it.

You can renew a book:

  • At home via our online catalogue. (Select 'My Account' along the top of of the page, then select the items you would like to renew from your list of checkouts and click 'Renew')
  • By using the Matamata-Piako Library app. Select 'My Account', 'Loans', then select the items you would like to renew from your list of checkouts and click 'Renew'.
  • By Replying to our courtesy reminder email before your item is due
  • By Emailing or phoning us
  • By visiting us any of our libraries
