Place an item on hold

If you're after a particular book but it's always out on loan, it's only available at one of the other libraries, or you just can't make it to the library today, you can place it on hold.

This ensures that you get to take the item out next. If the item is already on loan, you will be added to the list of people who are waiting. If more than one person has requested an item, new requests are added to the end of a queue.

Reserving an item incurs a fee, which must be paid when you collect it. Note that if you place an item on hold but change your mind and do not collect it from the library, the fee will still be added to your library account.

To place a book on hold simply log in to your library account using the number on your library card, find the book in the catalogue, and click the 'Place Hold' link. You can also phone your library and speak to a librarian to request a hold on a book.
