If your library doesn't have the item you want, we may be able to borrow it from another nearby library - this is called interloaning.
Most books held by New Zealand libraries are available on interloan. If you've already checked our library catalogue and we don't have the book you want, try searching the New Zealand libraries catalogue to see if you can locate the book at another New Zealand library.
Note that it is mostly books that are available by interloan (libraries may choose not to supply items including dvd's, CDs, textbooks for current school/unversity/polytech courses, reference only items, magazines or newly published books).
Interloans incur a minimum fee of $10.00. Additional charges may apply if the item is only available from certain New Zealand and overseas libraries, or if you require the item urgently. The interloan fee must be paid when you collect the item. If you request an interloan but change your mind and do not collect it from the library, the fee will still be added to your library account.
Staff will process your request within 24 hours (Monday to Friday) and will contact you if there are any issues, or when the item is ready to be picked up. If items are available, they usually arrive within one or two weeks.
